Angel Olsen revealed that her new album, Whole New Mess, will be arriving on August 28 via Jagjaguwar.
The album was recorded in October 2018 at The Unknown, a church-turned-studio in Washington run by Phil Elverum and Nicholas Wilbur in Anacortes. The upcoming project will also feature intimate, cinematic renditions of “Lark,” “Summer,” “Chance” and more songs that appeared on 2019’s All Mirrors.
“I had gone through this breakup, but it was so much bigger than that—I’d lost friendships, too,” Olsen said of her vulnerable record. “When you get out of a relationship, you have to examine who you are or were in all the relationships. I wanted to record when I was still processing these feelings. These are the personal takes, encapsulated in a moment.”
