Andrew found 10-1 Newcastle scorer ZENZERO on Monday and he has four selections at Nottingham, Kempton and Dundalk on Wednesday October 27th:
NOTTINGHAM 2.15
COUNT D’ORSAY (system – running style)
The forecast headwind could make life difficult for the prominent racers in this 5f handicap, putting the likes of Rebel At Dawn, Dark Shot (if he runs here again after yesterday’s Catterick win), Zargun, Josies Kind, Good Luck Fox and course expert Wrenthorpe at a disadvantage. COUNT D’ORSAY on the other hand will relish conditions. He was only sixth when favourite behind Zargun at Catterick last time but the track was favouring early pace and he raced towards the inside of the track where the ground was slowest.
DUNDALK 4.00
TRADING POINT (system – sire Siyouni, Polytrack, 4yo+)
Progeny of Siyouni take time to mature and they also have a great record on Polytrack. Backing those aged four plus on this surface would have found 23 winners from 117 bets (19.7% strike-rate) for a profit of £54.95 to a £1 level stake at SP. TRADING POINT was rated 87 when scoring over course and distance on his all-weather debut and caught the eye over an inadequate 7f trip here on his first start for John McConnell earlier this month. He can run off a mark of just 70 now returned to his optimum trip and was nibbled in the overnight betting (12-1 from 16-1).
DUNDALK 6.00
CLOCK LIATH (system – sire Alhebayeb on Polytrack, 3yo+)
Progeny of Alhebayeb have a good record on Polytrack and they also tend to mature from the autumn of their three-year-old season. Had we only backed the three-year-olds from September 1st until the end of the year, we’d have won seven of our 34 bets and made a profit of £39.23 to a £1 level stake at SP. CLOCK LIATH ran respectably at Naas in late August, staying on into a 50-1 sixth of 17 over an inadequate 6f trip, and has had excuses since. Her wide draw in stall 15 of 15 made life very difficult when seventh over 7f at Listowel next time and the poorly-drawn tenth and 11th have won or run well in defeat since. She was well held at the Curragh last time but was again poorly drawn and raced too close to the front end in a race run to suit those who were ridden patiently. She could improve for the switch from turf to the all-weather.
KEMPTON 7.45
A LEGACY (system – poorly drawn at Kempton last time out)
The draw at Kempton is rarely discussed when it comes to the longer races, but it still helps to be drawn low. Since the start of 2019, had we backed any horse who ran well in defeat (finishing second, third or fourth) over 1m1f-1m4f at Kempton on its latest outing when drawn in stall 7 or above, we would have won 54 of our 270 bets (20% strike-rate) and made a profit of £51.13 to a £1 level stake at SP. A LEGACY fared best of those ridden patiently when third at 20-1 from stall 9 of 12 in a 1m3f fillies’ maiden at Kempton last time and is better berthed (stall 1 of 9) for her handicap debut at the same venue tonight.
