Andrew was among the winners on Friday and has five selections at Haydock and Lingfield for the racing on Saturday November 20th:

LINGFIELD 12.35

ICONIC QUEEN (system – Ralph Beckett, fillies in AW handicaps)

Since the beginning of 2010, Ralph Becket has a 24 from 86 record with fillies in all-weather handicaps for a profit of £38.58 to a £1 level stake at SP. ICONIC QUEEN was only sixth at Chelmsford on her return to synthetics last time but little went right for the thee-year-old that night – she blew the start after Hector Crouch was slow to remove her blindfold and she met trouble in running. She can bounce back today.

HAYDOCK 1.15

CHRISTOPHER WOOD (system – second run after wind operation, Class 1 or 2 hurdles, unplaced LTO, recent run)

Some horses need their first run back after wind surgery to get used to being able to breath comfortably at the business end of a race and those that disappoint are often underrated by the market next time. Hurdlers running in Class 1 or 2 company on their second run after a wind operation, who finished unplaced on their latest outing, have a 12 from 42 record for a profit of £81.75. Lakota Warrior, a 9-2 winner at Wetherby on this angle last Saturday, was highlighted in this column and perhaps CHRISTOPHER WOOD can follow suit.

LINGFIELD 2.20

SIXTH STREET (system – Toronado juveniles on the AW, not on racecourse debut)

Progeny of Toronado have a good record on the all-weather, especially the two-year-olds who already had the benefit of a run. This system has produced 20 winners from 87 runners for a profit of £50.83 to a £1 level stake at SP. SIXTH STREET, close up in a big field at Wolverhampton on her racecourse debut in September, didn’t build on that at Bath next time but the return to synthetics can she her in a better light.

HAYDOCK 3.00

IMPERIAL AURA (system – Kim Bailey chasers, first run after a wind operation)

Kim Bailey’s chasers have an excellent strike-rate when running on their first start following a wind operation, landing nine of their 30 starts for a profit of £6.94 to a £1 level stake at SP. IMPERIAL AURA recorded impressive wins on his first two starts last term and clearly had wind issues when pulled up at the Cheltenham festival on his final outing (he started at just 8-1 for the Ryanair Chase). He remains open to improvement over 3m+ and can cause an upset in this Grade 1 contest.

LINGFIELD 3.30

OLIVIA MARY (system – Lee Carter switchers on the AW, recent run)

Lee Carter does well at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, especially if they are racing on the all-weather after a recent outing (within 28 days). He has a seven from 29 record with this angle and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £33.75 to a £1 level stake at SP. OLIVIA MARY, winner of a Chelmsford claimer for Jamie Osborne last time, is the latest qualifier. Carter has had one horse from the Jamie Osborne yard previously, Free Zone, who was a winner at 12-1 on his debut for new connections.
