Andrew Garfield Open To Returning as Spider-Man If It’s “Additive To The Culture”

Andrew Garfield Open To Returning as Spider-Man If It's "Additive To The Culture"

Andrew Garfield revealed that he is open to reprising his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, but only if it’s “additive to the culture.”

The actor, who returned as his variant of the Marvel hero in Spider-Man: No Way Home, told Esquire in a new interview that he holds the character close to his heart. “For sure, I would 100% come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into,” Garfield said. “I love that character, and it brings joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I’m joyful in return.”

Garfield also opened up about his appearance in No Way Home, the third film in the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man franchise which succeeded his series. He admitted that he was “left dangling” upon the cancellation of The Amazing Spider-Man 3, but donning the costume was “really healing” for him.

He starred as the titular character in two The Amazing Spider-Man movies between 2012 and 2014, but did not return for the third installment as Sony axed it due to “disappointing results.”
