If you are an avid user of AllMovie, you may have noticed some recent changes to the site (or as Bill and Ted would say, “Strange things are afoot at the Circle K”). We’ve moved to a different data provider and some of the features and functions on the site are evolving. A rich level of detail about movies is still available, including some new features that will be possible as we work with this new company.
The genre structure is slightly different, but now displays specific categories for Animation, Documentaries, Biography, Silent Film, and Anime.
Additionally, we’re able to show users different “Collections” of films which include groupings like Dreamworks Animated Films, Universal Classic Monsters, Studio Ghibli, John Grisham, Agatha Christie, William Shakespeare, Harry Potter, and The Skywalker Saga as a new way to explore cinema.
Plus, we now offer more detail about where movies can be streamed for free, via subscription services, rented or available to own.
While some elements like reviews, moods, and DVD info are no longer possible, we’re still working to build out new functions and features for users in the upcoming months.
