AMC Entertainment Holdings CEO Adam Aron tweeted on Thursday that the movie theatre chain will soon begin accepting various forms of cryptocurrency as payment.
Aron first discussed the chain’s commitment to cryptocurrency during an earnings call last month, saying that it would “accept Bitcoin as payment for movie tickets and concessions” by the end of the year.
“We are also in the preliminary stage of now exploring how else AMC can participate in this new burgeoning cryptocurrency universe and we’re quite intrigued by potentially lucrative business opportunities for AMC if we intelligently pursue further serious involvement with cryptocurrency,” he said at the time.
On Thursday, Aron expanded the types of digital coins that theatres would be able to accept, saying that it would include Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash.
Cryptocurrency enthusiasts: you likely know @AMCTheatres has announced we will accept Bitcoin for online ticket and concession payments by year-end 2021. I can confirm today that when we do so, we also expect that we similarly will accept Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash. pic.twitter.com/uKcFyQotoJ
