AMC Theaters Is Charging More for ‘The Batman’ Tickets Than Other Films

AMC Theaters CEO Adam Aron has confirmed that the company will be selling The Batman tickets at a higher price in comparison to other films shown in cinema. The company is using the movie to experiment with a variable pricing method.

According to Deadline Aron said in a quarterly earnings webcast,

“Currently, our prices for The Batman are slightly higher than the prices we are charging for other movies playing in the same theaters at the same time. This is all quite novel in the United States, but actually AMC has been doing it for years in our European theaters. Indeed, in Europe we charge a premium for the best seats in the house — as do just about all sellers of tickets in other industries — take sports events, concerts and live theater, for example.

Aron has also added that he thinks that this pricing method would allow for “considerable upside opportunity ahead if we continue to be imaginative.” Though he did not offer specifics, a simple online search would show that the AMC Empire 25 in Times Square has listed The Batman tickets at $18.99 USD, $1 USD above other film like Uncharted and Dog. It remains to be seen how this new method will affect the company balance sheets.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Disney+ announced the streaming date for Marvel’s live-action series in U.S.
