Ahead of its upcoming SDCC panel, AMC has dropped off a new teaser trailer for its hotly-anticipated anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead.
The six-episode series, which marks the latest spinoff in The Walking Dead universe, stars Danielle Pineda, Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Parker Posey (Lost in Space), Jillian Bell (Rough Night), Anthony Edwards (ER) and Poppy Liu (Hacks), among others. The teaser provides a closer look at each of the characters, though it does not reveal specific details about any of the hour-long episodes.
Haifaa al-Mansour, Deborah Kampmeier and Tara Nicole Weyr have each directed one episode, and Michael Satrazemis, who is a producer on the series, directed three episodes. The series employs different writers for each episode, including Ahmadu Garba (The Girl From Plainville), Lindsey Villarreal (Resident Evil) and flagship The Walking Dead writer Channing Powell. The series is executive produced by Scott M. Gimple, the former Walking Dead showrunner.
“This series, more than any other in the Walking Dead Universe, runs on new voices, perspectives, and ideas — bringing to life stories unlike any we’ve told before,” Gimple said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to be Channing’s consigliere, helping in every way I can to make those new visions real for the best fans in TV. I started as a fan of The Walking Dead and have ended up as a showrunner of what will hopefully be one of its most unique spin-offs.
Two additional The Walking Dead spinoffs are scheduled to arrive in 2022 and 2023, including another six-episode series titled Isle of the Dead, which takes place in post-apocalyptic Manhattan and stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean. The second project is a yet-to-be-titled series that centers on fan-favorite characters Daryl and Carol.
Tales of the Walking Dead is slated to premiere on AMC on August 14 at 9 p.m. ET. Watch the latest teaser above.
