AMC Theatres has given away free NFTs to its Investor Connect shareholders.
In November, Sony Pictures and AMC announced that they would be offering an exclusive Spider-Man NFT to AMC Theatres Stubs Premiere & A List and AMC Investor Connect members in anticipation of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Soon after, the popular theatre chain announced a second NFT drop exclusive to AMC Investor Connect members available through the WAX blockchain.
AMC Investor Connect is a program designed for self-identified AMC shareholders, so fittingly, the exclusive NFT drop features a gold embossed medallion that says: “I Own AMC.” The company previously said that it expects to airdrop discounts or other benefits at its theatres to the holders of the NFTs.
On Tuesday, CEO Adam Aron tweeted that the company had emailed unique codes to AMC shareholders to claim their “I Own AMC” NFTs.
Yesterday we emailed unique codes to AMC Investor Connect members to claim our “I Own AMC” NFTs. Closing in on 100,000 of you already having redeemed. As of noon, more than 200 of these NFTs have been resold, with prices as much as $223.80 so far. What a new world we live in! pic.twitter.com/EfO2ahM2Kn

“Closing in on 100,000 of you already having redeemed,” he said, adding that over 200 of the NFTs had already been resold on the secondary market for as high as $223.80 USD.
Current and new Investor Connect members have until January 31 to claim their free NFTs.
“I can say with certainty there will be more NFTs in AMC’s future,” Aron previously said.
In other news, OpenSea recorded $3.5 billion USD in monthly Ethereum volume.
