Amazon is reportedly adapting Hazelight Studios‘ recent hit It Takes Two into a film and Dwayne Johnson is potentially involved in the cast. According to new reports from Deadline, Amazon will be partnering with Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions banner to create a movie based on the popular two-player co-op game, which won Game of the Year at the Game Awards in 2021. Sonic the Hedgehog producer dj2 Entertainment will also be participating, with the film’s writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller handling the screenplay adaptation.
The outlet also suggests that the upcoming film will follow closely with the original storyline of It Takes Two, which centers around May and Cody, a married couple struggling with their marriage. As they contemplate divorce, the two find their minds magically transported into their daughter Rose’s two little dolls, which were made to represent her parents. As they journey through various obstacles to find a way back into their own human bodies, the couple encounters a series of unexpected, fantastical events that bring them closer together once again.
Amazon has since confirmed production details of the adaptation, although it made no confirmation of Johnson’s involvement in the cast. For fans of the original game, definitely stay tuned for more updates to come.
