The stage was set, the red carpet rolled out, and the stars were shining at the announcement of the National Film & TV Awards South Africa 2023 winners, at the Opera Theatre in Pretoria on Saturday, 21 October.

The annual awards are a global showcase of South Africa’s talented film and TV industry and were broadcast live to VooVix TV, ensuring viewers from around the world were part of the excitement.

The awards honoured the exceptional talents that graced our screens and brought stories to life.

The Award winners are voted for by the public and this year over 1.7 million TV/Film fans voted.

The awards show produced by the National Film Academy with versions in the UK and US has expanded to South Africa with a mission to promote, celebrate and provide exposure for actors, actresses, films, programmes and the film and TV industry in South Africa to a global audience.

Connie Ferguson who picked up three awards during the evening comments, “I am honoured and blessed to win this award and thank you to NFTA and all who voted for us. This is the first year and I am looking forward to celebrating next year and many more years to come with the National Film and TV Awards South Africa.”

Two children orphanages visits

The day after the awards ceremony, the National Film & TV Awards South Africa team partnered with current sponsor Krispy Kreme to visit two children’s orphanages with gifts for them and to inspire and motivate them about learning other passions in drama, acting, and more.

The organisation visited Peas in a Pod Urbanvest Foundation and House Gracia Child & Youth Care Centre.

Head of partnerships, Kabelo Ndonyane, comments, “Our commitment to celebrating excellence is also directly linked with our commitment to ensure that the communities we serve can also be supported, funded, and inspired. As we continue to grow, we will continue to serve on all fronts.”
