Alex Trebek has died after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. The beloved Jeopardy! host, 80, was surrounded by family and friends as he passed away early on Sunday (Nov. 8), the game show announced in a tweet. Trebek first revealed his diagnosis to fans in March 31, and continued to work as he received treatments for cancer, maintaining positive throughout.
Remembrances from musicians of the TV personality began pouring into social media shortly after Trebek’s death was announced. Among them were KISS’s Gene Simmons, who tweeted, “Alex Trebek, Rest In Peace. A wonderful, kind soul. You will be missed,” along with a video of the game-show host dressing up as the rocker.
Singer Nancy Sinatra also paid tribute to Trebek. “Part of our lives for decades, he taught us about so many things and now Alex Trebek has gone from us,” she shared alongside a photo of the two together. “Sending love to his family and friends. We will miss you, sir. Godspeed.”
