AISHONANZUKA Announces New Hong Kong Gallery Dubbed LANDMARK

Since its founding in 2013, AISHONANZUKA has served as a hub within Hong Kong to experience art from prominent and emerging Japanese artists. Made in collaboration between Japanese galleries Aisho Miura Arts and NANZUKA, the two sides have announced a new arts destination within the city called the Landmark.

For its first show, the burgeoning space will bring together an eclectic list of Japanese artists, including Hajime Sorayama, Harumi Yamaguchi, and Keiichi Tanaami, as well as international figures, such as Kenny Scharf and Hebru Brantley. Entitled The Summer, the show is as much a celebration of the new gallery, as it is about the carefree nature of the summer months. From painting to digital renderings, each artist adds their own interpretative spin on what summer means.

Highlights include a rather uncommon painting by Sorayama, featuring a surfer bailing off his board, which prominently features a marijuana leaf front and center. Additional standouts can be seen in Yamaguchi’s signature airbrushed depiction of two redheaded women floating around one another in dance, as the colors of their dresses and umbrella hint at the vibrancy of the summer months.

The opening reception of the gallery will take place on Saturday, August 19 from 4 to 7pm HKT. Check out the full list of exhibiting artists below.

In case you missed it, Mr Eazi announces global art exhibitions as part of forthcoming album.
