BBC pundit Micah Richards reacted to the performance of Leeds United player Junior Firpo against Brighton on Saturday.
The 33-year-old said that the left-back greatly struggled against Tariq Lamptey.
The former Manchester City player said on Match of the Day on BBC One: “Firpo had an absolute disaster against him (Lamptey).
“Firpo didn’t know what day was it. Didn’t know what he had come up against.”
Brighton hosted Leeds United at the Falmer Stadium hoping to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa.
The Seagulls were the better side at the Amex but they failed to convert their opportunities into goals. They ultimately had to settle for a point, with Neal Maupay most culpable for missing chances.
Despite Brighton playing out a 0-0 draw, Tariq Lamptey performed spectacularly on Saturday and caused constant problems for the opponents.
The ex-Chelsea player caused the most difficulties for Junior Firpo who really struggled against him.
The left-back also received a yellow card for diving in late on Lamptey and catching him.
Firpo is a highly talented player who endured a difficult game this weekend.
However, one poor match shouldn’t define any player and the 25-year-old will have many opportunities to prove his abilities in the following months.
He joined Leeds United in the summer from Barcelona in a deal worth around €15 million.
Since his arrival at Elland Road, he has clocked up 10 appearances across all competitions, with eight of them coming in the Premier League (stats from Transfermarkt).
