A$AP Rocky has been hit with a charge of felony assault with a firearm in connection to a shooting that took place in Hollywood last November.
According to reports, the Los Angeles district attorney charged the rapper with two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm with allegations of personally using a firearm, and his arraignment is scheduled for August 17. “Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offense that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood,” Dist. Atty. George Gascón said as he announced the charges. “My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted.”
Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, is accused of pointing a semiautomatic handgun at Terell Ephron/A$AP Relli, a previous A$AP Mob associate of the rapper who publicly identified himself and sued the rapper last week of assault and battery, negligence and emotional distress. Ephron claims that he and Mayers met up to initially talk about their issues, however a verbal altercation occurred and Mayers “pulled out a handgun and purposefully pointed it in the direction of [Ephron] and fired multiple shots.” The former A$AP Mob associate was allegedly “struck by bullet projectile/fragments” and needed medical attention, with a big part of the incident captured on video.
Rocky was arrested in April after getting off a plane that flew from Barbados. Authorities searched his house and supposedly found several firearms on his property.
