A$AP Ferg has officially signed a management deal with JAY-Z‘s Roc Nation.
According to reports, the A$AP Mob member will drop the collective’s tag in his artist name for his work outside with the Mob. Ferg is also set to release a brand new single produced by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, known as the Neptunes, on October 29.
“It has always been a dream to work with Jay-Z,” Ferg said in a statement. “For decades I have looked up to the moves he’s made with his diverse range of business ventures but especially with companies like Roc-A-Fella and Roc Nation. His ability to build brands and create teams alongside leaders like Jay Brown is unmatched, and it feels good to be officially a part of the family.”
He added, “I look for a classic brand that knows what their purpose is. I’m not in this game just to make money. I want to make art.”
Reps for Roc Nation confirmed that “Ferg is very much still part of the Mob, and is A$AP Ferg within A$AP Mob.” They continued, “Ferg as an individual artist and with his solo career is Ferg.”
Elsewhere in music, the new owners of the Wu-Tang Clan album, Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, have revealed their identities.
