Spirit Halloween, the well-known, seasonal costume and prop store with 1,425 North American locations, has joined forces with Strike Back Studios, Hideout Pictures and Particular Crowd to create a feature-length film titled Spirit Halloween, according to Variety.
The project, which is described as a family-friendly adventure movie, will star Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Rachael Leigh Cook (She’s All That), Marla Gibbs, Donavan Colan, Dylan Frankel, Jaiden Smith, Marissa Reyes and more.
“When a new Spirit Halloween store appears in a deserted strip mall, three middle-school friends who think they’ve outgrown trick-or-treating make a dare to spend the night locked inside the store Halloween night,” the logline reads. “But they soon find out that the store is haunted by an angry evil spirit who has possessed the creepy animatronic characters. The kids embark on a thrilling and spooky adventure in order to survive the night and avoid becoming possessed themselves.”
David Poag is directing the film based on a script written by Billie Bates. Noor Ahmed, president of Strike Back Studios, will produce with Shannon Houchins, while Tomás’ Yanelevich, Peter Bevan, Mariana Sanjurjo and Clay Epstein will executive produce.
“One of the reasons I immediately connected with the script is it is very much inspired by some of my favorite kid adventure films growing up from ‘The Goonies,’ ‘Gremlins,’ ‘Monster Squad’ and so many great films made by Amblin Entertainment,” said Ahmed in a statement.
Production on Spirit Halloween has wrapped, and the film is eyeing an October 2022 release.
In more entertainment news, Fast and Furious 10 has cast Captain Marvel star Brie Larson.
