A Redesigned iPad Mini Will Reportedly Launch This Fall

A Redesigned iPad Mini Will Reportedly Launch This Fall

A revamped iPad Mini “should be a go” for this fall featuring “the biggest redesign in [its] nine-year history,” according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter.

While the iPad Mini’s design has remained largely consistent since its initial release in 2012, the updated construction is expected to include smaller bezels, an 8.4-inch screen (an increase from its current 7.9-inch display), a faster processor and an all-screen layout with no home button similar to Apple’s new iPad Air released last year, MacRumors notes.

The forecast aligns with Bloomberg‘s initial reporting on the device last month, which said the tech giant would omit the traditional home button to maximize screen space. In line with an iPad Air-reminiscent design, the new iPad Mini will likely feature a Touch ID sensor mounted atop the power button on the side of the device instead.

The upcoming iPad Mini will arrive as the 6th generation of the tablet, succeeding the 5th edition, which came equipped with a faster A12 processor and Apple Pencil compatibility, in 2019.

In addition to the new iPad Mini, Gurman reported that Apple is also developing a “larger, redesigned” version of the 27-inch iMac that will employ more powerful Apple silicon processors.

Elsewhere, Joe Biden will sign a new executive order that will make fixing your own tech devices more accessible.
