A New Surf-Inspired Lifestyle Hotel Just Opened In Santa Monica And We Got A Sneak Peek - Forbes

Steps away from Southern California’s iconic Santa Monica Pier, ‘The Pierside’ is now open and accepting reservations.

Spread across three-and-a-half miles of sunny Southern California coastline, Santa Monica has long served as a destination for travelers eager to escape the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.

At its heart, the historic Santa Monica Pier is one of the area’s most iconic locales, and if you’re looking for a new place to post up right in the heart of the action next time you’re in town, The Pierside Hotel officially opened its surf-inspired doors this week. From floating fireplaces and a heated saltwater pool, we got an exclusive sneak peek inside. Here’s a look at what you can expect on your next visit.

Set on the corner of Ocean Avenue and Colorado Avenue in downtown Santa Monica, much of the inspiration for the newly reimagined Pierside Hotel comes straight from its Southern California surroundings.

The first luxury hotel offering to open on Ocean Avenue in over a decade and the closest hotel proximity-wise to the Santa Monica pier, upon arrival guests are greeted into the convivial California coastal-inspired lobby area. Along with plenty of nods to Santa Monica’s perpetually cool and laid-back surf-culture, the light-filled spaces include a floating fireplace and plenty of seating for locals and guests to lounge the day away.

Home to 132-guest-rooms and suites, many of which offers partial ocean views over the Pacific, configurations range from king rooms with a queen size sofa sleeper to rooms with two queen beds. Guests can expect to find furnishings that embrace a minimalist-meets California coastal aesthetic along with the use of woven, nautical materials and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Santa Monica at your doorstep.

With accented wallpaper and pops of color in the closet area, guest-rooms have been furnished with a minimalist decor along with luxurious touches along the way. As an Energy Star-certified hotel, all guest rooms come furnished with reusable aluminum eco-bottles to use at the hydration stations on property during your stay.

Opening this Spring, The Pierside’s all-day signature restaurant, The Surfing Fox, will offer locally inspired food and craft cocktails along with plenty of alfresco seating and direct views of the Santa Monica pier when it opens.

Taking full advantage of its oceanfront locale, The Board Shop will be the onsite rental spot where guests can check out gear including surfboards, skateboards, beach cruisers, rollerblades, fishing rods, beach supplies and GoPros. Other amenities including a beach butler service is also in the works for later this year.

One spot that’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser, The Pierside’s heated saltwater pool complete with light bites and cocktails will surely be a big draw for guests who stay here.

“As Santa Monica’s newest hotel near one of the most iconic locations in the destination, let alone the U.S., The Pierside will invigorate one of the city’s most lively street corners for guests and locals alike,” General Manager Karina Sedigh said. “We are honored to introduce The Pierside to the market and are confident that the hotel will be received as a true Santa Monica staple for solo travelers, couples and families alike given its unbeatable location, upscale offerings, destination-inspired programming and unparalleled culinary experience.”

Starting rates for The Pierside are $345 per night.
