A new Street Fighter movie is in the works at Legendary Entertainment. The media company has acquired the film and television rights to Capcom’s long-running video game saga.
One of the highest-selling game franchises of all time, Street Fighter debuted with its first title in 1987. In the three-plus decades since, it has spawned six follow-up games, along with anime, comics, and manga. Several live-action Street Fighter films have already been released, beginning with the eponymous 1994 movie.
Any projects coming out of Legendary Entertainment will be co-developed and produced in conjunction with Capcom, Deadline reported. Capcom’s involvement includes the current feature film being developed.
Legendary Entertainment is also simultaneously working on the sequel to the box office hit Dune, among other projects, according to the publication.
In other entertainment news, Shrek 5 is reportedly in the works with the original cast.
