An ultra rare 1976 Lamborghini Countach LP 400 “Periscopio” has emerged and is heading to auction.
Bathed in the striking original “Blu Tahiti” shade, the car sees one of Lamborghini’s most eye-catching builds due to its wedge shape. To date, the car has only had three private owners. With the second owner, the car was restored and placed into storage for 20 years after only a few years of use. The vehicle’s fluids were drained and it rested in a climate-controlled facility for preservation purposes.
The car was later revived by a Toronto Lamborghini specialist before seeing moments like the 2013 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance where it was an award winner, appearing on Jerry Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee and on Jay Leno’s Garage. The car still has the original numbers-matching engine, but features a replaced biscuit-colored interior. Additionally, the car has been outfitted with a new air conditioning system and external rearview mirrors.
As an early model, the LP 400 sees a mid-rear mounted 3.9-liter V-12 engine with 375 horsepower. Given its rich history alongside its excellent condition, the 1976 Lamborghini Countach LP 400 “Periscopio” is expected to fetch $1,100,000 to $1,400,000 USD at the auction.
