Chris Cornell, the late Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog frontman, took his own life in May 2017, aged 52. He left a considerable legacy. Cornell was one of the linchpins of Seattle’s grunge movement, and is considered to have possessed one of the exceptional voices in rock.

Last September, more than three years after his death, Cornell posthumously reached No. 1 on Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart with his cover of Guns N’ Roses’ “Patience.” Soundgarden was nominated for the Rock Hall in 2019.
