He continued arguing past 2 a.m. that people attending such large gatherings during the ongoing pandemic “deserve whats coming to them” if they fail to socially distance themselves and wear face masks, while making a snide remark about the Black Lives Matter protests over the summer. “Proof that I stormed Congress. yeah I don’t see it,” he replied to one user’s comments about his sighting. “Are u suggesting the congress building has a bed and breakfast we somehow got access to.”
Pink joked about being “canceled” on his own Twitter account and drew comparisons to a panopticon, a circular prison where the cells are conveniently arranged for a centrally positioned guard to surveil every prisoner. “Welcome to the panoptigan. they wasted no time…save yourselves friends, cancel me now and turn me in before they come for you,” he wrote. His follow-up tweet, “vote for trump,” comes 14 days before Trump transitions out of office and President-elect Joe Biden takes over.
On the other hand, Maus mysteriously tweeted a link to a speech given by Pope Pius XI at the Vatican in 1937 without context.
Moyer, who made her Instagram account private shortly after the picture of the three made the rounds on social media, edited the caption on her now public account with additional commentary, concluding with, “Support John Maus and ARIEL PINK.” She also clarified that she was in D.C. shooting a doc that she’s been working on for months and has nothing to do with either musician. When asked how being near the Capitol was during the time of the riot, she replied, “super Normal and relaxed.”
