Lil Durk dropped his surprise sixth studio album on Wednesday (Dec. 23), The Voice, which features collaborations with 6LACK and Young Thug (“Stay Down”) and the late King Von (“Still Trappin'”). The 16-track album comes after Durk dropped the song “Backdoor” earlier this week, a tribute to labelmate Von that appears on the album; Chicago-bred drill rapper Von, who died at 26 last month after being shot at an Atlanta nightclub, is also featured on the album’s cover.
In an Insta post previewing his follow-up to May’s Just Cause Y’all Waited 2, Durk wrote “The voice dropping midnight. Tell the trenches I’m back.” Also featured on the album are YNW Melly (“Free Jamell”) and Booka600 (“Lamborghini Mirrors”). It’s been a big year for Durk, who also appeared on Drake’s Certified Lover Boy single “Laugh Now Cry Later.”
