Report: Rangers identify 24y/o striker Gerrard greatly admires as Morelos’ replacement

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos will be sold this summer if suitors meet his asking price, and the club have identified Livingston striker Lyndon Dykes as the man to replace him.

The Australian was targeted in January as a plan B should their loan move for Hibernian’s Flo Kamberi fall through, and is still very much on their radar.

Dykes would reportedly jump at the chance of a move to Ibrox and boss Steven Gerrard is said to be a great admirer of the 24-year-old.

Rangers scout regularly watched the Livingston star during the January transfer window and would have likely kept running the rule over him prior to the suspension of action.

Dykes has 12 goals in 33 games across all competitions this term and will definitely do better playing for a side that creates chances regularly like Rangers.

At 6ft 2in, the former Queen of the South striker brings an aerial presence both Morelos and Jermain Defoe lack, and that will present Gerrard with an option to go direct in games if need be.

The Colombian is expected to move on after three seasons at Ibrox and he has expressed a desire to leave this summer.

Morelos isn’t short of suitors, though, and Rangers will use the cash from his sales to immediately reinvest, with Dykes top of Gerrard’s striking wish-list this summer.
