Taylor Swift Is In The Studio ‘Re-Recording All of My Old Music’

Taylor Swift missed the opportunity to keep and control her masters. So, she’s going back to the recording board to make them all from scratch.

On Sunday night (Nov. 22), Swift was among the big winners at the 2020 American Music Awards, where she took out three categories, for best artist, best female pop/rock artist and best music video.

The pop superstar wasn’t at the ceremony, though she had a good excuse.

Speaking in a pre-recorded video, Swift explained that she’s working on her old stuff. “You guys have been beyond wonderful all the years of my career, but especially this one when we’ve been so far apart,” she said.

“The reason I’m not there tonight is I’m re-recording all of my old music in the studio we originally recorded it.”

News broke last week that that Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings had potentially doubled its investment in her catalog with a reported $300 million sale to investment firm Shamrock Capital.

TayTay was beaten but not defeated, and she doubled-down on speculation that she’d re-record her first six albums, which were released between 2006 and 2017 by Big Machine Label Group. “I can’t wait for you to hear what I’ve been dreaming up,” she told her fans in a lengthy Twitter note last Monday.

With her AMAs acceptance speech, the “Shake It Off” singer confirmed for the first time what Swifties and industry observers had suspected all along. Swift will indeed take control of her catalog, doing it the old-fashioned way.
