Disgraced filmmaker Brett Ratner will direct a new documentary on First Lady Melania Trump, which will be released in theaters and stream on Prime Video in the second half of 2025.
Promising an “unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look,” production on the documentary began in December 2024, with Trump herself serving as an executive producer. As such, it’s probably safe to assume the film will be heavily sanitized, likely avoiding any controversies surrounding her or her husband, President Donald Trump.
The documentary is the latest example of Big Tech and Hollywood’s embrace of the Trumps ahead of their impending return to the White House later this month. In recent weeks, several high-profile CEOs, including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, have met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Additionally, Amazon donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund.

Meanwhile, the project marks Ratner’s first major production since he was accused of sexual misconduct by six women, including Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge, in late 2017. Ratner is best known for directing films including the Rush Hour franchise, X-Men: The Last Stand, and The Family Man, as well as producing films The Revenant and War Dogs and the television series Prison Break.
