For years Dame Dash would do interviews and would either refuse to talk about Jay-Z or throw small fits whenever broached about the subject, but as of late he’s been opening up about his days with his former business partner and now reveals the moment he knew their relationship was officially a wrap.

During a recent interview with Mighty Bolton for his Art of The Dialogue Youtube series, Dame Dash revealed that the final straw between he and Jay-Z came when Jay began working with R. Kelly for The Best of Both Worlds album back in 2002 and it’s eventual sequel, Unfinished Business in 2004. While talking about P. Diddy’s sex trafficking case, Dame pointed out how he didn’t get along with many prominent figures who ended up getting busted for rape and sexual deviancy such as Harvey Weinstein, Diddy, and R. Kelly.

When talking about Kelly, Dame stated that “I think the fact that Jay was f*cking with him is what used to blow my mind more than anything. I don’t know why he wants to f*ck with this guy so much. Like why? I’ve just never understood it. So I think it was more about me feeling awkward about the fact that I had to be around him on some level, but I wasn’t around him.”

Saying that he didn’t see any reason to hang out with famous men, Dash says he stood away from R. Kelly and others as he had no interest in being around any celebrities unless they were women.

When asked if Jay knew of Kelly’s infamous marriage to Aaliyah when she was 15-years-old, Dame says “Hell yeah that conversation was had,” before adding “I was like ‘Yo, how you gonna do a project with a n*gga that raped my mutha*ckin’ girl?’ We had the conversation.” It was then that Dame realized “That alone was the nail in the coffin for me. I was out of there.”

Later that year Roc-A-Fella Records officially split up with Jay and Dame going their separate ways and given Dame Dash’s side of the story, we can understand why.

We’ll have to wait and see whether or not Jay-Z responds to Dame’s version of events, but don’t be surprised if Jay remains mum on this as he too hasn’t had the itch to talk about his former business partner over the years.
