‘Dune: Prophecy’ Renewed for Season 2 at HBO

'Dune: Prophecy' Renewed for Season 2 at HBO

Dune: Prophecy has officially been renewed for a second season at HBO. The news was announced in a virtual press conference earlier this week, just days before the first season comes to an end on Sunday, December 22.

The prequel series is set 10,000 years prior to Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune film. Continuing to follow the origins of the Bene Gesserit, also known as the secretive order of powerful witches behind Arrakis’ politics, the series is inspired by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s novel Sisterhood of Dune. The series follows the Valya Harkonnen, who is the leader of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood and played by Emily Watson, as well as Olivia Williams’ Tula Harkonnen. Both team up to fight the forces that threaten humankind and are ancestors from evil House Harkonnen. The house later betrays Paul Atreides and his father in the films.

The cast for the series include Mark Strong plays Emperor Javicco Corrino and Sarah-Sofie Boussnina is his daughter Princess Ynez as well as Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Camilla Beeput, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning and Yerin Ha. The series is co-produced by Legendary Television and HBO. It remains to be seen when the second season will release.
