Timothée Chalamet has released his covers of Bob Dylan‘s “Like a Rolling Stone” and “The Girl From the North Country,” both of which are set to appear on the upcoming Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown.

“Like a Rolling Stone” hears Chalamet emulate the same raw energy in Dylan’s original 1965 recording, while “The Girl From the North Country” features Monica Barbaro (who portrays Joan Baez) on the track. A press release confirmed that the latter is a cover of the song’s 1963 version rather than the 1969 collaboration Dylan created with Johnny Cash, and “highlights the palpable chemistry between Chalamet and Barbaro.”

“To me, there was only one way to make this film — to cast actors that are profoundly talented, ambitious (and brave enough!) to inhabit the whole of the artists they would portray,” director James Mangold said in a statement. “And in order to inhabit that world those artists had to be able to sing the songs.. We were never out to replace the power, beauty and majesty of what exists, but rather, to celebrate it.”

Joining Chalamet and Barbaro in the cast are Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Boyd Holbrook and Scoot McNairy. A Complete Unknown follows the life and career of Dylan from 1961 to 1965, chronicling his move from Minnesota to New York and his controversial at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.

Dylan recently took to X to publicly congratulate both the film and Chalamet, “There’s a movie about me opening soon called A Complete Unknown (what a title!). Timothée Chalamet is starring in the lead role. Timmy’s a brilliant actor so I’m sure he’s going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me. The film’s taken from Elijah Wald’s Dylan Goes Electric – a book that came out in 2015. It’s a fantastic retelling of events from the early ‘60s that led up to the fiasco at Newport. After you’ve seen the movie read the book.” The actor then responded, “Floored. I am so grateful. Thank you Bob.”

Stream “Like a Rolling Stone” and “The Girl From the North Country” on Spotify and Apple Music. A Complete Unknown hits theaters Christmas Day.
