As the holiday festivities approach, LISA has dropped a “Santa Baby Remix” of her latest single “MOONLIT FLOOR (Kiss Me).” For the festive rendition of the bubblegum-pop love song, LISA reimagines her lyrics with Christmas themes, singing “Santa baby got me trippin’” in the updated hook.
The addition of traditional Christmas bells ringing in the background enhances the holiday feel of the reimagined single, produced by American artist Rykeyz. The reference to Eartha Kitt’s widely known classic “Santa Baby,” is not the only interpolation in the song–the original “MOONLIT FLOOR (Kiss Me)” already borrows its core melody and chorus from Sixpence None The Richer’s “Kiss Me” originally released in 1997.
The wide range of references is a fitting vehicle for LISA’s ethos, which has always been informed by multiculturalism. Though the singer and rapper is known for her spot in South Korean girl group BLACKPINK, she’s originally from Thailand. The eclectic mix of influences also shines through in the second single from her forthcoming LP “New Woman” with Spanish singer Rosalia, where the artists trade verses in English and Spanish.
LISA’s debut album Alter Ego is set for release on February 28, 2024. Listen to LISA’s “MOONLIT FLOOR (Kiss Me) (Santa Baby Remix)” below and on all streaming platforms today.
