JAY-Z's Team Roc Announces 'Corruption Uncovered' True Crime Podcast

Team Roc, the social justice division of JAY-Z‘s Roc Nation, is set launch its true crime podcast Corruption Uncovered on December 6.

The upcoming podcast will be hosted by journalist Josie Duffy Rice and focus on the criminal justice system in Kansas City, Kansas, investigating “the longstanding allegations of corruption” that have been made against its police department. Corruption Uncovered is set to dissect the trial of former KCKPD detective Roger Golubski, who was facing federal charges for extorting and raping Black women and teenagers, as well as include interviews with survivors, impacted families, community members, attorneys and national and local activists. However, Golubski was just found dead in an apparent suicide on the first day of his federal civil rights trial.

Earlier this November, Team Roc sued the KCKPD and accused them of an “unjustified failure” to present records detailing supposed police “abuse and misconduct” over the decades.

“There is a need for powerful and comprehensive storytelling in the criminal justice sector so that the voices of those who have been silenced are heard,” said Team Roc managing director Dania Diaz. “Our hope is for ‘Corruption Uncovered’ to not only achieve that purpose, but also to serve as an investigative platform that will expose misconduct, demand accountability and drive change from the people and systems that are duty bound to protect its citizens and community.”

Corruption Uncovered launches December 6.
