A$AP Rocky‘s highly-anticipated album Don’t Be Dumb seems to be getting another wave of delays. The often delayed album which was initially announced back in December 2022 and later at Rocky’s first fashion show in June 2024 for an August 2024 release, has being pushed back to an undisclosed fall date. Over the weekend, eager fans have noticed retailers canceling their pre-orders of the vinyl edition of the album.
With screenshots of the refund and cancelations circulating online, fans have taken to social media in a frenzy with one user @99Vinyl_ disappointingly pointing out what seems to be a short term reality, “We are never getting the album.” Earlier this August, Rocky took to X to explain why his first album in six years will be pushed to the fall. He stated at the time, “LEAKS & SAMPLE CLEARANCES ARE DISRUPTING THE ALBUM. ITS BEEN 6 YEARS & I WANNA MAKE THE BEST ALBUM EVER. IM SORRY FOR THE WAIT.”
Leading up to the album, Rocky gave fans “Highjack” which seemingly took shot at other rappers who allegedly “stole his flow.” It also addressed Drake’s continued interest in Rihanna. In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Rocky said about the album “It’s just we coming with a whole new aesthetic on everything, especially with German expressionism and the whole ghetto futurism GR1M thing.” Following the leak of “Tailor Swif,” he also confirmed to Lowe that he would not be including any previously leaked tracks on the album. So far, the rapper nor his team have addressed the vinyl pre-order cancellations.
Retailers are reportedly starting to refund vinyl orders for A$AP Rocky’s ‘DON’T BE DUMB’.
