One of Chicago hip-hop’s favorite duos is back cooking up in the studio. After reminding us of their imminent long-form return earlier this year with “head.rap” Saba and No ID have shared their second joint single of 2024 entitled “How To Impress God.”
The track comes lifted from the duo’s From the Private Collection of Saba and No ID project, which, per a press release is slated to arrive “soon.” Saba and No ID initially thought the project was wrapped about a year ago, but Saba suffered the loss of his uncle and wanted to continue evolving the release before putting it out into the world.
“He’s the person who made me fall in love with hip-hop,” Saba said of No ID in a statement. “It made me want to re-approach things; I had to have a lot of conversations with myself that I hadn’t had to have in a long time.”
“This is some of my most honest music. That’s something that I can almost single-handedly credit to No ID: It felt like I had to give myself permission to step into some of these bags. We had a lot of conversations about rap and what my goals are as an artist, and I feel like I’ve been challenged to step up to how I see myself.”
Laced with Saba’s lyricism and brought home by No ID’s production, “How To Impress God” joins “head.rap” and 2023’s “hue_man nature” and “Back In Office.”
Stream “How To Impress God” on Spotify and Apple Music now and stay tuned for all things Saba and No ID.
