The Linda Lindas let rip on title track from upcoming album No Obligation

The Linda Lindas have unveiled the title track from their upcoming album, No Obligation, which is set to arrive on October 11th.

The song “No Obligation” falls on the heavier side the Linda Lindas’ musical spectrum. Whereas the album’s earlier singles like “All in My Head” and “Too Many Things” dabble in melodic pop, “No Obligation” is a ripping punk tune. The track sees singer-bassist Eloise Wong taking lead vocals, delivering a fiery and raspy ode to individualism.

“Eloise wrote this ripper because we won’t adhere to what anyone else thinks we should sound like or who they think we are,” stated the band of the new song. “We don’t make music out of obligation — we make music out of love. And we’re so grateful for all of the opportunities music has given us, like going to Japan and making this video with a team including Naoko from Shonen Knife! Enjoy.”

As the statement mentions, the music video depicts the band’s tour of Japan, mostly showing a live performance of the song.

The Linda Lindas are currently supporting Green Day on the latter’s North American “Saviors Tour,” through a September 28th gig in San Diego’s Petco Park (tickets available here). See Consequence‘s review and photo gallery of the tour’s stop at Citi Field in Queens, New York, earlier this summer.
