Hyundai Unveils New U.S.-Built IONIQ 5 XRT Variant

Hyundai has revealed its refreshed 2025 IONIQ 5 lineup, including the new adventure-ready XRT variant, built at the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Georgia. The revamped model range boasts enhanced battery capacity, a longer driving range and innovative features.

The all-new IONIQ 5 XRT offers improved off-road capabilities with features like a 23mm suspension lift, AWD dual-motor and rugged 18-inch wheels equipped with all-terrain tires. A bold exterior design includes digital camouflage cladding, black badges and unique fascias, ensuring the XRT stands out on any terrain. Inside, drivers will find H-Tex seating with exclusive XRT logos and a redesigned center console.

Additionally, the 2025 IONIQ 5 also introduces Hyundai’s first use of the Tesla North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, granting access to over 17,000 Tesla Superchargers, doubling its charging options without an adapter. This feature, along with a Combined Charging System (CCS) adapter, makes fast charging more accessible for IONIQ 5 customers.

José Muñoz, Hyundai’s president and global COO, emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding its EV lineup, stating that the IONIQ 5 XRT caters to customers looking for more rugged, off-road capabilities. Expected to qualify for U.S. tax incentives, the 2025 IONIQ 5 models will hit dealerships this fall, with pricing details for specific models available by request via authorized Hyundai dealers.
