Fans from all over the world gathered around their computers and mobile devices on Wednesday (August 28th) in anticipation of a major Linkin Park announcement at 2:15 p.m. ET. However, when a mysterious countdown clock hit zero, there was no news from the long dormant band.
Now, Linkin Park have revealed that the announcement will come on September 5th via a social media post that reads: “Be part of something. September 5th. LinkinPark.com.”
On Wednesday, when the band’s countdown clock hit 00:00:00, instead of an announcement, the clock started ticking back up. Some sleuths noticed a glitch at 00:09:05, suggesting that the news would come on September 5th instead.
Amid the speculation is that the band will re-form with a new singer to play shows in 2025. Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley was rumored to be that singer after he teased his own Wednesday announcement, but he shot down those reports, saying, “I am not joining Oasis… or Linkin Park. Or any other band for that matter.”

Earlier this year reports surfaced that Linkin Park were planning to reunite for a 2025 tour, with a female vocalist taking the place of the late Chester Bennington. That news has not been substantiated as of yet.
Linkin Park have not toured since singer Bennington tragically took his own life in July 2017. The band did perform a tribute show that fall, but have not played any concerts since then.
