Dr. Dre revealed that he and Snoop Dogg are aiming to release their upcoming album Missionary by November of this year.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the hip-hop icon shared that he is currently in the midst of mixing the joint. “I wanted 14 songs, Snoop wants 16, so we have that thing happening [bumps his fists together],” Dre shared. “I’m on song number 11 as far as the mixes go. I have to be done and delivered by September 1st to have a November release.” He even divulged that he was on the mic for some of the songs, although he believes only one of those tracks will make it to the final cut.
While fans can expect the genius of Dre and Snoop to shine on the album, they can also expect an exciting collaboration from another legend. “There’s a song, we have Sting on the song. Man, it’s an amazing roster of artists that’s on this album,” Dre teased, quickly adding, “I shouldn’t have revealed that, to be honest.”
“This one’s gonna show a different level of maturity with his lyrics and with my music,” he proudly said. “I feel like this is some of the best music I’ve done in my career […] I’m not playing.” Dre continued, “The musicians I’m working with right now and some of the writers in the studio that are helping us… Snoop is really excited about this and so am I. I think people are gonna really enjoy this.”
November is looking to be the ideal time for the album release as it will also mark the 31st anniversary of Missionary’s predecessor, Doggystyle. When Missionary was first announced in 2022, Snoop called it their “30th anniversary to Doggystyle.”
