Katy Perry‘s much anticipated music video for her latest single, “Woman’s World,” is officially here and the reactions are wide-ranging.
Like many musicians before her (Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera and Pink, to name a few), she appears in her music video as Rosie the Riveter, the symbolic figure of women’s efforts during World War II that has since become an icon representing female empowerment.
Later, Perry is seen stepping into the shoes of the bionic woman and rides off in a helicopter. All the while she sings about a woman with “Fire in her eyes / Feminine divine / She was born to shine.”
Throughout the video, Perry and her dancers pretend to use urinals, dance with vibrators and the singer yells “I’m Katy Perry” at a young woman recording a TikTok video. YouTube star Trisha Paytas also makes an appearance, first hauling then driving a lifted truck.
Some fans reacted with excitement seeing Perry’s music video, her first in two years.
“& that’s how Pop was saved,” a fan tweeted.
“Katy Perry, you’re INSANE for this music video. Yeah she’s REALLY BACK,” another posted.
Others were less enthusiastic.
“Not defending katy perry at all but nostalgia is so crazy bc her new song & video is like… exactly as tacky and bad as the majority of her old stuff,” one viewer posted. “The cheap product placement, the cringey cameos… it’s the most katy perry thing she’s done in like 10 years.”

Another commenter said they watched so “you don’t have to.”
“For something that’s supposed to be about feminism and girl power it’s literally just using all of the girl stereotypes in a super (sexual) way, making things like Rosie the riveter and others hot, flashy & ‘extra,’” @placesiknow13 wrote. “Basically, ew.”
The singer announced the song’s release on July 11 with a post on X.
The single is set to appear on the upcoming album “143,” which will be released on Sept. 20.
