BMW Introduces a New Diagonal Grille Design on the 2025 X3

As if the previous grille design wasn’t controversial enough, BMW has now unveiled a new design on the all-new 2025 X3.

The new BMW X3 features a redesigned grille, now larger and more upright with vertically and diagonally arranged bars. The grille also includes optional BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting, which outlines each grille element. There’s also enhanced lighting with L-shaped, overlapping LED sources for daytime driving, side lights, and turn signal indicators – all equating to sharp angles and “an air of assured presence,” according to BMW. The grille – shown on the X3 – is separate from the X3 M50 xDrive’s iteration, which features horizontally M kidney grilles.

Under the hood, the BMW X3 offers a range of powertrains. The plug-in hybrid X3 30e xDrive combines a 2.0L four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering up to 299 horsepower and an electric range of 50-56 miles. The X3 M50 xDrive features a 3.0L six-cylinder engine with 398 horsepower, capable of 0-62 in about 4.6 seconds.

New features include the BMW Curved Display, BMW Interaction Bar, and a modernized cockpit with a flat-bottomed steering wheel and a new gear selector. The interior also offers extensive customization options and increased cargo space, from 570 to 1,700 liters. Exterior options include new paint finishes and various wheel sizes ranging from 18 to 21 inches.

The new BMW X3 will be launched in Europe and the USA in the fourth quarter of 2024, with availability in other markets starting January 2025.
