After unleashing HARDSTONE PSYCHO on Friday, Don Toliver has already expanded the album’s universe, adding another four-track disc to the album’s deluxe iteration. Exclusively available on the Cactus Jack rapper’s website for purchase, HARDSTONE PSYCHO DELUXE sees two solo Toliver tracks as well as features from Lil Uzi Vert and Yeat.
The new tracks – part of what the rapper is referring to as “Stonehenge Disc 5” – land in the following order: “ROCKSTAR GIRL,”LOVE IS A DRUG,” “DONNIE DARKO” with Uzi and “GEEKED UP” with Yeat.
Toliver further built out his biker gang world visually, dropping off a 10-minute short film in tandem with the new music.
Directed by Jack Dalton and fronted by Toliver himself, the visual lets us into the album’s “Psycho Valley” setting.
“Back in the early days, it was really just an idea – a vision of a life on the road and the tools he needed to get him here. He knew there were no shortcuts, no handouts. But for whatever reason a certain type of man feels things have to be done alone. Forming his own destiny, he handcrafted some of the finest motorcycles I’ve ever seen,” the narrator opens the clip.
“Psycho Valley is not a place for the weak. The earth is wild here. The shadows are dark. The days are long. He had to isolate himself.”
“LAST LAUGH” then kicks in as Toliver paroles the deserted landscape.
“It is a tragedy – the things a man does for the ones he loves. “A good woman is hard to come by,” the narrator adds as Kali Uchis enters the clip with their son.
The film then pivots to Toliver’s bond with his biker gang – and the “vengeance” on the “opportunists” who “want to capitalize [on them]” – as “4X4” revs up.
“Every day the winds cover yesterday’s tracks,” the narrator explains, “HARDSTONE NATIONAL ANTHEM” closing it out.
“Every day is a new test, a new trial. The Hardstone Psycho.”
