Billie Eilish’s “CHIHIRO” Music Video Is All About the Chase

Billie Eilish's "CHIHIRO" Music Video Is All About the Chase

Billie Eilish has dropped off her latest visual from Hit Me Hard and Soft. In the music video for the fan-favorite cut “CHIHIRO” – which Eilish calls “one of [her] favorite videos [she’s] ever made – the singer does a lot of running, away from and alongside her love interest, Nat Wolff.

“one of my favorite videos i’ve made & truly one of the greatest days of my life,” she wrote in an Instagram caption of the self-directed video. “nat love you so much thank you for being a part of this.”

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Eilish explained how the track draws inspiration from the main character of the same name in Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away.

“It’s kind of from her point of view, mixed with mine,” she explained.

“The visuals in that movie are some of the best ever — all that Studio Ghibli sh*t is unbelievable. There’s all those visuals of the train in the water after the flood, and it literally looks like an ocean with a train track. I had just watched Spirited Away and Finneas had made that beat. I love that movie. I’ve seen it so many times.”

“CHIHIRO”‘s music video arrives one day after Eilish dropped off three one-take iterations lifted from the “LUNCH” music video.
