Singer-songwriter Halsey took to Instagram today to announce a new album and reveal her health struggles. She first posted on June 3rd, revealing that “The End,” the lead single of her forthcoming fifth album, would be released today, June 4. Following the single’s release, Halsey posted a follow-up that revealed she has been battling chronic health issues through a series of videos that peel back the curtain and give us a raw glimpse at her day-to-day.
“I feel like an old lady,” Halsey stated in the first video while rubbing her legs. “I told myself I’m giving myself two more years to be sick. At 30, I’m having a rebirth and I’m not gonna be sick and I’m gonna look super hot and have lots of energy and I’m just gonna get to re-do my 20s in my 30s.”
While she declined to reveal her specific diagnoses, Halsey tagged the Lupus Research Alliance and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the caption of her post and donated to both according to a press release. In 2022, the singer also posted on Instagram that she was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Sjogren’s syndrome, MCAS and POTS. While she made her health battle public, Halsey has no plans of slowing down with the yet-unnamed album on the way and a big screen debut with A24’s Maxxxine next month.
Halsey’s lead single, “The End” is out now on Spotify and Apple Music.
