Colombian artist Ryan Castro is at the vanguard of a new generation of reggaeton hitmakers. Throughout his tenure in the music industry, Castro has continuously evolved his sound, moving through reggaeton, dancehall, trap and more with skilled fluidity.
Although the artist released his first singles on streaming services back in 2017, he’s just now put out his debut album, El Cantante Del Ghetto. Drawing from his experiences growing up in the Pedregal neighborhood of Medellin, where he used to busk on the streets, Castro charts a narrative of ambition, hard work and remaining humble throughout the process.
El Cantante Del Ghetto spans 18 tracks, including the namesake single with Coqe and La Eterna and his collaboration with Peso Pluma, “Quema.” Other guest features come courtesy of Rich the Kid, Arcangel, Ñengo Flow, Yandel, Jowell y Randy and Zion.
To commemorate the album’s release, Castro has shared a music video for the standout song with Arcangel, “Pueblo De Medallo.” Watch the official video above and stream El Cantante Del Ghetto everywhere now.
