Game of Thrones wrapped up its final season nearly five years ago but that doesn’t mean that the saga has come to an end – in fact, there are basically always at least a few GoT spinoffs in development. Along with the ongoing prequel House of the Dragon, creator George R.R. Martin was previously reported to be working on three animated spinoffs.
In early 2022, Martin revealed in a blog post that Jon Snow would be getting his own standalone series. The working title for the show was Snow and at the time, was one of four live-action shows in development.
Kit Harington, who played Snow in GoT, has now confirmed that the spinoff has been scrapped.
“I hadn’t really ever spoken about it, because it was in development,” Harington told Screen Rant. “I didn’t want it leaked out that it was being developed, and I didn’t want the thing to happen where people kind of start theorizing, getting either excited about it or hating the idea of it, when it may never happen.”
The actor said that they looked at “every angle” to see if they could figure out a storyline for Snow and “see whether it was worth it.”
“Currently, it’s not,” Harington continued. “Currently, it’s off the table because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough. So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being.”
Thankfully, GoT fans still have House of Dragon season two to look forward to, premiering on June 16.
