After teasing imminent new music last week in his short film “Clarity,” Big Sean has brought that vision to life in the form of a new freestyle. Dubbed “Whole Time,” the rapper delivers a run of bars as he walks around his mansion.
“Look I been in the crib getting over this food poisoning (Norovirus🙅🏾♂️). I figured if Jordan can play in the Finals w/ food poisoning, least I can do is drop some bars!” he wrote in the freestyle’s Instagram caption.
“I think where I lack most as an artist is consistency / I just haven’t had the energy to compete with enemies,” he begins. “Or y’all so-called bigger three, huh / But every verse I lay, fans love to say, ‘Man, n*ggas is sleep’ / But two hundred million records up though it isn’t a dream.”
He shouts a handful of rappers including JAY-Z, Jhené Aiko and J. Dilla before turning to talk to his old self on the final bars.
“Right now I’m talking to the old Sean / Sh*t, how long you knew was your mind was a goldmine? / Before you got signed? / Sh*t, both times? / How long you knew it be like this? / N*gga, the whole time / Yeah, the whole f*cking time, b*tch.”
While the song is not yet available on streaming, check it out in the YouTube video above.
