FKA Twigs was tapped by Two Shell for a feature on their latest dance track, “Talk to Me.” The British duo has been gradually carving out their own corner of the UK scene with intense beats influenced by garage and internet-age production.
In January, Twigs revealed on her Discord that she was personally a fan of Two Shell, making a collaboration inevitable. “Talk to Me” marks her first new music since 2022’s CAPRISONGS mixtape and her April feature on Yung Lean’s “Bliss.”
The new song opens with a glitchy club beat which Twigs stutters, “I just want to talk to you.” Quick thumping provides a backtrack, while the singer croons out a lovesick narrative.
“I just wanna talk to you / Callin’ you, I can’t stop / Even though I know you never pick up,” she sings.
Twigs is currently working on her next LP, a techno album, after being inspired by the scene since moving to Prague a few years ago. “It’s deep but not sad. I’m not sad anymore,” she described the record, noting her main collaborator on it was the British DJ Koreless. A release date for the project has yet to be revealed but it’s expected to arrive sometime in 2024.
