Planned terror attack on Brussel music venue La Botanique foiled by police

Four people have been arrested in connection with a planned terrorist attack on the Brussels, Belgium music venue La Botanique.

An 18-year-old adult and three minors are charged with “participating in the activities of a terrorist group and preparatory acts with a view to committing a terrorist attack,” according to the Brussels Times.

The suspects allegedly planned to execute an attack similar to the one carried out on Paris’ Bataclan theatre in 2015, which killed 90 people and wounded more than 200 others.

The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office said that the suspects appeared to be sympathizers of the Islamic State and initially came in contact with one another after meeting online.

La Botanique, one of Brussels’ most prominent music venues, opened in 1984. Its upcoming concert calendar includes shows with The Last Dinner Party, Faye Webster, Jamila Woods, and Yard Act.
