Miami is set to host the inaugural ModaMiami event from February 29 to March 3 at the iconic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, promising an experience that will feature over $80 million in classic cars, hypercars, watches and more. Curated by Moda Events and RM Sotheby’s this new event is expected to become a hallmark in Miami’s vibrant calendar and in addition to various auctions, will feature world-class cuisine and entertainment.
The event will be highlighted by a two-day auction on March 1 and 2, conducted by RM Sotheby’s, showcasing a dazzling range of vehicles that span over a century, from 1911 to 2023. Among the headliners are a 1967 Ferrari 365 California Spyder by Pininfarina and a 1953 Ferrari 250 Europa Coupe by Vignale, marking their significant returns to the US public market after more than a decade. The auction will also feature a rare 1930 Duesenberg Model J ‘Disappearing Top’ Convertible Coupe by Murphy, further elevating the event’s prestige.
In total, the auction house is bringing an exceptional lineup of 119 vehicles, including motorcycles dating back to 1911 and cars spanning 96 years. RM Sotheby’s shares that this carefully curated selection underscores its commitment to presenting cars that are as diverse and remarkable as the showfield itself. The auction includes a range of BMW‘s M series, highlighting the evolution of this iconic line, and spans to modern marvels such as a 2018 Bugatti Chiron, valued between $3.2 and $3.8 million. Additionally, it will feature a range of Porsche 911 restomods from makers like Singer, RUF and Gunther Werks — with estimates ranging from $950,000 to $1,800,000 for vehicles in this category.
Rob Myers, CEO and Chairman of RM Sotheby’s, shared “We’ve been holding auctions in Florida for nearly 30 years, but in 2022, we ventured into something new by hosting our first ‘pop-up’ auction in downtown Miami, which turned out to be a massive success. Fast forward to today, and we’re taking it to the next level, organizing an event on a scale unlike anything we’ve previously attempted. In collaboration with Moda Events, our goal was to create the premier car show on the East Coast. To achieve this at the RM Sotheby’s auction, we knew we had to bring an array of incredible cars. The diversity of cars we’re offering matches the variety you’d see on the showfield, from the fastest hypercars to American classics.”
Beyond the automotive auction block, ModaMiami attendees can indulge in luxury experiences, including previews of Sotheby’s Fine Watches auction and an assortment of jewelry and designer handbags available for purchase. Highlights include a rare Heuer Carrera Sunray DX watch, a testament to the intertwined history of auto racing and horology and an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept watch, among other coveted pieces.
