'Bob Marley: One Love' Surpasses 'Madame Web' at Box Office

The Bob Marley biopic One Love proved victorious over Sony’s Madame Web at the box office.

According to reportsOne Love surpassed its initial $30 million USD to $35 million USD expectations with $27.7 million USD during the regular weekend and $51 million USD during the six-day holiday. It also earned $29 million USD from 47 overseas territories to increase its global total of $80 million USD against a $70 million USD price tag. “My family and I are honored with the amazing response to ‘Bob Marley: One Love’,” Marley’s son, son Ziggy, said in a statement. “Like my father’s music, this movie is meant for the people and his message of peace, love, and unity is clearly connecting with audiences around the world. We thank the people for embracing this film and in so doing helping to highlight the message of one love.”

Meanwhile, Madame Web — which cost $80 million USD to produce — opened far behind One Love with $17.6 million USD during the regular weekend and $25.8 million USD during the six-day holiday, along with $25.7 million USD from 61 overseas territories. Variety notes that even Morbius, which was met with poor reviews, earned $39.1 million USD during its opening weekend.
